It's been awhile since I have blogged and a LOT of things are changing for me. My boyfriend and I are moving into a 30' 5th wheel next week to live on property that has to be cleared (by us) before we can build a house. So I am trying to be strategic in what I bring into the 5th wheel with me because of limited space. The 5th Wheel Vanessa Fhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06956876417676025450noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-224770476430668788.post-19610491547609605732019-07-15T08:36:00.000-06:002019-07-15T08:37:24.169-06:00Trip to Anaheim!I took a student and my mom to Anaheim, California, at the end of June for the 2019 FCCLA National Leadership Conference!
We flew from our little, local airport through Salt Lake City to John Wayne Airport in Orange County. Such a quick and easy trip! We flew at noon on Friday then went to the hotel to check in. This was my first year to have students compete in FCCLA at all, and two of them qualified for Nationals. One dropped out, but the other wanted to compete. I also have a state officer this upcoming school year, and they ask state officers to attend NLC before their year begins for training.

I was working furiously on a final paper for my education class (School, Community, and Family) & had to have a break! I am loving this pattern, from "KnitSimple 33 Knit Shawls: Beautiful Wraps in Cables & Lace" published by Mixed Media Resources in 2015. I found it at my local Michael's store back Vanessa Fhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06956876417676025450noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-224770476430668788.post-11949082987336369102018-05-27T11:36:00.001-06:002018-05-27T11:36:40.385-06:00Getting Organized for Summer SewingIn the new house, I've been working on a sewing area. Now that school is out and I have about three weeks before summer school starts, I started unpacking!
First, I had to move all my books & bookcases across the living room. Then, I could position the plastic shelving for fabric & other craft supplies. I was able to get the front, facing, and sleeves out of the toile. I pieced the back by adding a CB seam and a seam crosswise about 5 inches above the hem. The collar & under collar were also cut from the black linen.

Bought some Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable for the project. Colors I chose were Winery and Tidal. I think they are really pretty together!
The shawl was fun to crochet but the yarn makes it very difficult to rip out mistakes. But the finished product is lovely.

Found some great color combos for various gifts I need to make. I don't think the recipients read my blog so I feel pretty safe posting. If they do see they won't know what's for them anyway!
The shawls will be the Marly Bird Garter Stitch Shawl like the one I made myself already in the KAL. It's a lot of fun and I like the colors together. I want to make another one in orange, yellow, and red if I can find some good colors. Progress as of April 9

I wanted to de-stress and knitting's a great way to do that and then it's easy to move with a portable knitted project versus a whole sewing project.
Marly Bird posted about her garter stitch shawl KAL and I thought it looked fun and easy.

If you were to look back over my life and notice just how very many times I've moved, you might get the idea that I like moving.
However, I'm like most people and I dislike moving intensely.
Just as I was making headway on our apartment setup I find we are moving again. This time to Twin Falls! Thankfully movers are coming to pack us up, but I have 10 days to sort all my stuff into "taking toVanessa Fhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06956876417676025450noreply@blogger.com0Boise, Boise43.61871 -116.21461tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-224770476430668788.post-19419596190274564922016-03-17T19:02:00.003-06:002016-03-17T19:02:48.491-06:00Cowls!Finished a few Christmas at Sea neck cowls:

I don't really like fluffy placemats because then things are prone to tipping.
